Annoucement

It is hereby announced that the 8th International Symposium on Explosion, Shock wave and High-energy reaction Phenomena (ESHP2026) will be held in Kumamoto, Japan, from Monday, October 26 to Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
The symposium will be hosted at the Kumamoto Prefectural Community Center “Parea”, which is located in the center of Kumamoto City.
Participants from around the world will be welcomed to join this significant scientific event.

Regarding the Recent Earthquake in Kumamoto (Aug. 7th,2026)

We sincerely appreciate the many kind messages of concern and encouragement we have received following the recent earthquake in Kumamoto.
While some areas of Kumamoto Prefecture have suffered significant damage from the earthquake, the impact on Kumamoto City, where ESHP2026 will be held, has been relatively limited. We are therefore continuing preparations to hold ESHP2026 as scheduled.

Your warm words and encouragement are greatly appreciated and mean a great deal to us.
We look forward to welcoming you to Kumamoto in October.

Scope and aims

The eighth ESHP symposium in Kumamoto, Japan (2026) follows Maribor, Slovenia (2023) successfully finished as the seventh symposium. The symposium series have been organized in Kumamoto, Japan (2004, 2007), Seoul, Korea (2010), Okinawa, Japan (2013), Beijing, P.R. China (2016) and Pondicherry, India (2019) and return to Kumamoto again.
The aim of the triennial international ESHP symposium is to promote the dissemination of significant developments in theoretical, computational, and experimental research of explosion, shock wave and high-energy reaction phenomena and related research areas.

Typical topics of interest

Typical topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Chemistry of energetic and reactive materials
Shock waves in condensed and gaseous matter
Explosive cladding and other high-rate material processing technologies
Dynamic behavior of materials at high strain rates
Computational modelling and analysis of high velocity impact
Experimental measurement and observation of high-rate phenomena
Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis
Other fundamentals and applications of high-energy reaction phenomena

Notice: ESHP2026 does not permit presentations that include statements or remarks concerning military applications.
